Why the Heart Symbol Speaks to Us 💖

Why the Heart Symbol Speaks to Us 💖

Welcome to Dear Heart,

I’ve decided to start this blog not just to talk about beautiful things but to create a slower pace. A place to pause, reflect, and reconnect with what really matters - the heart.

Maybe it’s because I’m getting older, or maybe it’s because life moves so fast these days. But I’ve found myself craving stillness more and more.

I’m an introvert by nature. I don’t even listen to music in the car (my son thinks that’s very odd!). I live in a regional area (not quite full country, but with plenty of quiet) and I like it that way. The stillness doesn’t scare me; if anything, it helps me hear things more clearly.

For me, these peaceful moments are full of connection - to myself, to the people I love and of course my Cavoodle Maverick.  I know this might not resonate with everyone; some people thrive in the buzz of the city or constant company, and that’s wonderful too. But for me, I’ve learned that in the quiet, our hearts speak the loudest.

In a world that moves so fast - full of pings, deadlines, meetings, life’s pressures, and endless swipes, scrolls, and noise - it’s easy to forget how much beauty lives in quiet moments. We often overlook just how powerful the smallest things can be: a soft touch, a hug, a glance, a note, a symbol.

Each month, I’ll share the history of heart, the journey behind the pieces I find, the beautiful hands that make them, the meaning behind the symbols we so often use - and the small emotional threads that quietly connect us all.

The next time you send a message with a heart emoji, know that the person receiving it is probably pausing - if only for a small moment - to feel something real. Seen. Loved. Remembered. That tiny symbol might seem simple, but it carries weight. It says what words sometimes can’t.

If you’re someone who loves finding meaning in the everyday - in art, in emotion, in beautiful things made with love - then you’re exactly where you need to be.

So, thank you for being here! I hope this becomes a soft place for your heart to land when you need it the most.
